We use an International Communication Model to train professionals and managers to work effectively when working virtually and internationally.

It has 3 parts:

  1. Business Skills
  2. Intercultural Skills
  3. Language

Business Skills

  • MEET ? colleagues and managers in international meetings or conference calls
  • PRESENT ? yourself and your ideas
  • NEGOTIATE ? your ideas and recommendations with international managers and colleagues and above all recognise from the language they use, in which part of the negotiation they are in.
  • NETWORK ? how to build rapport with international managers and colleagues.
  • SOCIALISE ? how to feel comfortable socialising in non business situations.

Intercultural Skills

Business Skills are useful but they need to be adapted depending on the culture and country of the professionals and managers you?re working with. Business Cultures are also influenced by the culture of a country. How does culture impact the behaviour of managers and professionals from other cultures and countries? How can you apply this to these key business areas.

  • ATTITUDES TO TIME AND DEADLINES
  • TEAM SELECTION, ORGANISATION and RESULTS
  • MANAGEMENT STYLE and DECISION MAKING
  • BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS
  • ETIQUETTE and PROTOCOL issues such as greetings, gift giving, etc.

Language

Finally you also have to learn and practice fixed expressions or phrases in English to be able to use 1) and 2). This is best done practising in real international situations and case studies where you can practice 1), 2) and 3) at the same time, which is the methodology we use at The Practice Office.

At the Practice Office all our courses and programs combine these 3 areas in 1:

  • Business Skills
  • Intercultural Skills
  • Language (English)
